The Dance of the Dragonflies

This whimsical painting depicts three dragonflies in flight over marsh grasses.   These three neon blue colored dragonflies are enjoying a bright sunny day in the waters edge. Dragonflies are an indicator of a marsh's health.  Biologists look for them to help gauge how wetlands are doing.  They lay their eggs on the grass stems that are under the water.  The dragonfly larva live under the waters surface and feast on mosquito larva. They are a favorite of mine if for nothing else than this reason alone.

This original painting is a watercolor painting measuring 11 by 14 inches. It is painted on 140 pound cold pressed paper.
