Morning Glories
These vines tolerate salt water and are
found on the sand dunes on both coasts of Florida. They help to stabilize
the fore dunes. Their
branches spread over a large area of dry sand keeping the loose sand from
washing away or from blowing away. The flowers are a gorgeous
bloom with intense color that can only be admired. The colors vary from
blue to purple to almost red. These
flowers as painted are a common color in Cocoa Beach, in the areas where the condos haven't taken over their
position on the beaches these eye fulfilling flowers still bloom. I would see these as I walked to the beach to
surf in the mornings. The heat of the sun would cause them to close in mid
day then reopen to catch the beautiful sunrise day next.
