Everglades
The Everglades are one of the true nature
preserves in Florida. I have walked in them, driven through them flown
over them and even boated across them. One of the finest ways to see the
everglades
is from a private yacht, A well kept secret of Florida is that one can start at
Fort Myers on the west coast and take a small craft across Florida, to Jupiter.
(and the other way back) This is a trip that we took as a family one December/
January. It was a real adventure through towns of Florida that few have heard
of. Morehaven, has great stopping over facilities. Belle Glade is an awesome
little town from the river. there are a few others that have receded into a
distant fond memory. As you go west from Morehaven and look to the south
you can find vistas of the "Glades" that are untouched. The old pines
growing from the top of hummocks, grass forever, water everywhere. For the
Florida traveler looking for the nature of Florida this is a trip to do.
You will meet the nicest people in these small villages, Tucked deep into the
swamp at Big Cypress you will find Clyde Butcher, a man with an eye for the
swamp. ( and a camera lens to prove it.) This watercolor is one of those
hammocks with pines and grass. It could be in almost any place in the
"great river of grass"
